Did you try JUST Vegemite? Or did you have it on toast with butter?
I LOVE Marmite, and Vegemite ain't half bad either, give me a sarnie with marmite and some mature swiss cheese or crisps and I'm your friend for life.

YOU LUNATIC!!! you can't love marmite AND think vegemite is ok! went to a friend's house once and his mum offered "vegemite sandwiches" but they were actually marmite sandwiches... so SO wrong
side note: for a brief moment vegemite was advertised as Pawill, with the slogan, "if ma might, then pa will"

I think it depends on what you're used to. I'm from Norway, can't get any of them here. Fell in love with Marmite the first time I was in the UK (18 years ago), and order a couple of kilos from the Marmite webshop every year. I do eat vegemite from time to time as well, my sister visits Australia and New Zealand every year, so she brings back Vegemite for me.

That's fair enough, just wanted to know if you tried it propely, or just from a spoon. Huge difference. But I understand that it's not something most people like.

There are so many words in this conversation that I have no way to conceptualize. What's a sarnie?

A sarnie is an informal way of saying a sandwich in British English.

Ahh, thank you. I'll have to ask my wife if she knows that, as she traveled to England a number of years ago. Or if she's tried marmite . . .
